Wanna try Electro Sex? Here a guide on how you can try it.

What Is Electro Sex & Why Should I Try It?

Electro sex (also called e-stim) is the stimulation of your nerve endings under the skin and the surrounding tissue using an electrical current. You might be familiar with the kind of technology that e-stim uses if you’ve ever experienced a medical TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) therapy unit or perhaps an ab-toning belt; the difference is that electro sex units are designed for pleasure.

Electro stimulation can penetrate to your nerve endings more intensely than vibrations which must travel through all the layers of the skin to reach the nerves; this often means that higher powered vibrators are needed to create a suitable level of stimulation. E-stim takes this more direct path to the pleasure centre of your brain for more nuanced and variable stimulation that feels unlike any other type of sex toy. So essentially, the more intense you like your play, the more choice electro-sex gives you!

Electro stimulation (when designed and made by an trusted manufacturer) is safe and pleasurable to use. However, as we’re playing with an electrical current there are a few things to bear in mind. E-stim must be used below the waist only and you should always start slowly if you’re brand new to it. There’s nothing else in the adult toy world that produces sensations like it, so it might be a little surprising at first!

So, the first place to start when experimenting with electro sex is to make sure that the equipment you’re using is designed for intimate use. Although e-stim devices are based on the same technology as TENS devices, ‘for-pleasure’ stimulators and accessories have been modified to be more enjoyable.

Some electro sex brands use TENS technology and apply their branding to an ‘off the shelf’ unit. In the case of ElectraStim products though, everything is designed in-house with pleasure first and foremost in mind. That means everything from the features, patterns, intensities and even the look and feel of the stimulator itself is bespoke to lend itself to a better experience.

What Does It Feel Like?

One of the questions we get asked the most at ElectraStim is ‘does e-stim hurt?’ The short answer is “not unless you want it to” but the long answer is that electro stimulation is incredibly versatile and controllable so can span an enormous range of sensations. If you want a sensual, tingly massage then e-stim can do that; if you want intense muscle contractions and sharp pulsations, then e-stim can also give you that. At ElectraStim we’ve always worked hard to ensure that our stimulators are as intuitive and easy to use as possible. We want users to be able to experience the subtlety possible with electro!

The ElectraStim KIX Stimulator is the ideal place for beginners to start with electro-sex as everything about the form and function is designed to demystify electro and make it as easy as possible for newbies to experiment.

Instead of a numerical intensity scale- which will mean very little to beginners- KIX phases through a colour spectrum to represent the electro intensity level. The lowest levels are shown in cooler colours which gradually warm as you progress to reds and purples where the highest levels are. This unique way of showing the intensity means that beginners can focus entirely on the sensation they’re feeling at the time. The touch-pad controls instead of buttons or dials lend themselves to seamless progression through the levels that the user has full control over.

KIX also has several pre-programmed patterns and the ability to modify the frequency of the current which sounds complicated but essentially gives you full control over the feeling of the stimulation as well as the intensity.

Why Should I Try It

There’s no denying that electro-sex is not for everyone, but unfortunately there is a negative stigma attached to the idea of using an electrical current. However, when using a stimulator and accessories that have been designed for sexual use, the versatility of electro-stimulation reveals itself. E-stim can be used solo with a variety of surface and insertable accessories available, or you can even share the stimulation with your partner.

By using an accessory connected to your body and another connected to your partner, wherever your skin touches you complete the circuit and create a literal (and figurative) connection. For example, if both partners wear one conductive pad each on their lower abdomen or thigh during intercourse their genitals will become electrified for intense and unique sensations.

E-stim play also provides a fantastic workout for the pelvic floor (both men and women) as it causes the muscles in that area to contract- especially when using electro dildos or anal toys. Some male users have also reported hands-free orgasms while using cock rings and a pre-programmed pattern to simulate an invisible hand stroking them. Essentially the only limits are your imagination!

This was just a very broad overview of electro-sex, what it is, how it works and why it’s worth experimenting with. For tips and tricks, follow ElectraStim on Twitter @ElectraStim or visit their website for more information.
