The Chakra System
This blog post is part of a continuing series. If you would like a short introduction on the Chakra system be sure to check out the first blog post in this series here.
The Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the fourth chakra in the chakra system and is located in the center of your chest. It is often represented with the color green and is associated with compassion, affection and love. This Chakra is said to be the bridge between the lower chakras and the upper chakras. Although the heart chakra is an energetic point on the body, the chakras are often connected to physical points as well. This means that when a Chakra is blocked or imbalanced it may manifest itself in your mind and body.
When the heart chakra is out of balance it can impact the relationships that we have with others as well as the relationship we have with ourselves. You may find that your sense of self love is not present and even experience a lack of empathy towards yourself and others. Your relationships with others might lack depth and you may be finding it difficult to connect. It can also be the case that your heart chakra is too open which could also be detrimental to your well being. An open heart chakra could lead to you being very open to others and perhaps putting their needs before your own.
The Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is the third Chakra in the chakra system. It is located in the upper belly at the diaphragm and is believed to be responsible for confidence and self-esteem, as well as helping you feel in control of your life. This chakra is also associated with personality, identity and authenticity.
If your solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might feel a sense of shame regarding your identity, insecurity and self-doubt. If this is blocked you may be feeling strong fears around rejection and criticize yourself harshly. Physically, the solar plexus chakra is connected with the stomach so if this is imbalanced it may be associated with issues in digestion. Those with open sacral chakras are free to express their true selves.
What does this have to do with sex?
Blocked or imbalanced chakras can impact our lives and well being in every aspect, so naturally this includes our sexual wellbeing and lives as well. When you have a balanced heart chakra it may be easier for you to experience love and compassion towards yourself and others. You will have an easier time setting healthy boundaries and nourishing deeper relationships. If your solar plexus is imbalance and you are lacking confidence in yourself this may mean that you are Lacking sexual confidence. This can lead to futher issues with self esteem if you are feeling insecure and not able to have the kind of sex you want to. If you are feeling more confident in yourself this is great for your overall well being and it may be easier to communicate what you want and don’t want
How to bring things into alignment
The heart chakra is influenced by the element of air so breathing exercises as well as getting outdoors can do wonders to shift this imbalance. Finding ways to nourish your sense of compassion towards yourself may also be helpful. This could be reconnecting with things that you love to do or doing something kind for someone else.
If the solar plexus chakra needs some attention something you could do is address your relationship with your inner critic. What is this voice saying to you? Where did these messages come from? This voice might be limiting you from your full potential in life.Developing a sense of compassion towards yourself and building your confidence could create a shift here. Breath of fire is a breathing technique that is powered by the diaphragm and solar plexus. Try incorporating this breath into your day and notice any sensations that may arise.
Remember that all of the chakras are part of an interconnected system; balancing one cakra will cause shifts in others. This is only a brief overview of the Heart and Solar plexus Chakra. If you are looking to learn more about the Chakras I encourage you to do further research
